About Ecostrat

Ecostrat is the North American leader in biomass supply chain advisory and due diligence services for biofuels, renewable chemicals, biogas, and bio-product project development and finance. Founded on the belief that reliable feedstock data is the foundation of successful bio-project investment, Ecostrat works with developers, lenders, and investors to quantify and manage feedstock risk across the project lifecycle. Ecostrat is the originating organization behind the BSCR framework and a founding partner of the BDO Zone Initiative. For more information, visit www.ecostrat.com.

The role

We're hiring an AI automation generalist to build the company's intelligent layer. You'll move through every business line, work directly with the CEO and department heads to learn how the work gets done, find what can be automated — and then build it.

This is a hands-on builder role, not a research or analyst position: scope the opportunity, write the code, ship it, and own the systems that keep the company running. The summer is a test run — strong performance can extend into the fall and grow into a permanent role leading Ecostrat's AI function.

What you'll do

  • Map the work, then find the leverage. Sit with the CEO and department heads across advisory, due diligence, ratings, and communications to map how work actually flows today — then pinpoint the repetitive, high-volume, or error-prone steps where automation pays off first.
  • Build data pipelines that kill manual research. Pull, clean, and structure feedstock, pricing, and supply-chain data from PDFs, government datasets, spreadsheets, and the web — turning hours of digging into a query you can run in seconds.
  • Ship a meeting-summary bot. Ingest calls and meetings, produce clean summaries and action items, and route them to the right people and systems automatically — no more "who's writing the notes?"
  • Build a scheduling agent. Read calendars, propose times, and coordinate internal and external meetings end-to-end with minimal back-and-forth.
  • Stand up internal dashboards. Give the team live visibility into project pipelines, deadlines, and key metrics — replacing status-update emails and manual roll-ups.
  • Connect the stack. Wire email, calendar, Drive, CRM, and our LLM tooling into one connected layer with n8n and custom code, so data moves between systems without anyone copy-pasting.
  • Own what you build. Monitor it, fix it, document it, and hand it off so it keeps running after the summer ends.

What we're looking for

  • You ship. You can take a vague problem, scope it down, write working code, and deliver a tool someone actually uses — without waiting to be told each step.
  • Solid Python and scripting fundamentals, plus real comfort calling and chaining REST APIs (auth, webhooks, rate limits, JSON in and out).
  • Hands-on with a workflow-automation platform. We use n8n; experience with Make, Zapier, or similar transfers directly.
  • Working knowledge of modern LLM tooling: prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), function/tool calling, and building simple agents against APIs like Anthropic's or OpenAI's.
  • Generalist instincts. You can pick up an unfamiliar domain — here, biomass and project finance — fast enough to be useful in it within weeks, not months.
  • Clear communication with non-technical colleagues. You can explain what a tool does, what it can't do, and what you need from people to make it work.
